About
About SSL Glance
Free SSL/TLS certificate tools for people who run websites and servers. Everything about a certificate at a glance, decoded in your own browser.
What it is
SSL Glance is a set of small tools for everyday certificate work: reading certificates and signing requests, creating CSRs and development certificates, checking chains and key pairs, converting formats, and looking up CAA records and Certificate Transparency logs. There is no account and nothing to install.
How it works
The pages are static files. All decoding, conversion, signature checking and key generation happens in JavaScript in your browser:
- Certificates, CSRs and keys are parsed by SSL Glance’s own ASN.1 decoder.
- Signatures are verified and keys generated with the browser’s built-in Web Crypto API.
- CSRs and certificates are assembled with the open-source @peculiar/x509 library (MIT licence).
Only two tools need the network, and they send only the domain name you enter: the CAA checker asks Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver, and the CT log search asks crt.sh. Details are on the privacy page.
Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies or cross-site tracking and never receives what you type, paste or drop into the tools.
Limits
- SSL Glance does not connect to your server, so it cannot see the certificate a server sends; paste it from
openssl s_clientor your browser. - It does not check revocation (OCSP or CRLs) and does not fetch missing intermediates.
- Chains are checked for structure and signatures, not against a particular browser’s list of trusted roots.
